Day Three: First Concert

Day two with classes and I experienced my first ensemble concert. One of the 6th grade choirs sang, the Second Year 6th graders in Orchestra performed, and the Second Year band students performed. It was in the middle of the school day, and it was mostly for each other. They did a great job, and they are really talented groups. The Survey classes were great and very interesting. They were also very educational, if I ever wanted to know anything about music while I was growing up, I had to do research and listening on my own time. The lessons Mrs. Fazio has planned are also very interesting to the students, we've already talked about auto-tuning, dub-step, and movie scores. Very cool. I ended the day with the advanced orchestra. It was interesting to see so many different levels of players all sitting together and playing, and Ms. Belzer makes it look easy. I am already exhausted trying to keep up a full schedule of practicum, full schedule of campus classes, and a full schedule of homework and things to do, on the plus side, I am already feeling a rhythm to my schedule and spurts of energy (signs of life) throughout the day. It's a start :)

Day Two: First Day at School

Well, day two was an early and long day. It was my first day getting up this early and heading to school. I was there by 7:30 Tuesday and left at 1:10. I then had more than 6 more hours in the classroom at Concordia, so it was a long day! I love the kids, but they have and A/ B schedule so we don't see them as often as I'd like. The classes I attended were in both Mrs. Fazio's and Ms. Belzer's classrooms. My first one was 5th grade strings class, followed by Music Survey, then 6th Grade choir, another Survey class, and lunch. The choir was preparing for a concert later that week, and it was the first day of a new quarter. Getting to know everyone on the first day of class can either be fun or a chore, and I'd say it was fun for the kids :)

Day One: Meet Molly

Good morning all,
Today was Day 1, I was set to meet Ms. F at the Middle school, and boy was it a day. Almost everything that could go wrong did go wrong, including my cell phone alarm not going off, the printer not working, the car not starting, traffic, and getting lost. I got to my destination safely a half an hour late. Mrs. F is great, and I met the Strings teacher as well. I will have the opportunity to meet with orchestra students as well as choir students!! I am so excited (!!) and lucky, this couldn't have worked out better. The Middle School is on an A/B schedule, so keeping the classes straight is going to be interesting. I start next week at the Middle school, and I am really struggling with my schedule at school, so wish me luck!
